What Are Dental Veneers?

As thin sheath restorations that can be crafted from various materials, veneers are produced and placed in just 2-3 dental visits. Crafted by skilled lab technicians, they attach to the front surfaces of teeth to conceal an array of imperfections (i.e., cracks, chips, stains, misshapen teeth, gaps, etc.). Offering durable and longer-lasting results, veneers can remain in place for 10+ years and deliver beautiful, flawless smiles patients can enjoy.

Who Should Consider Veneers?

Meeting with one of our skilled dentists is the first step you must take when determining whether veneers are right for you. Their attention to detail and careful examination of your smile will produce a complete treatment plan that discusses the process, cost, and expectations associated with veneers or another form of cosmetic dentistry.

We find that veneers are often recommended for individuals who have multiple flaws that need to be concealed and would otherwise require several costly procedures to address. They’re also ideal for anyone who has small gaps or unevenly spaced teeth but wants to avoid orthodontics. Finally, individuals with deep-set stains can benefit from veneers, as some of the discoloration can be too severe even for teeth whitening.

The Veneer Process

You can expect there to be at least two visits to our dental office to receive veneers. Initially, we will begin by removing a small amount of tooth enamel from each tooth that requires treatment. This process causes it to be a permanent cosmetic solution, and it allows the veneer to lay flat when put in place.

If you have sensitive gums or teeth, we may recommend local anesthesia to keep you from feeling any discomfort during this process. We’ll then take digital impressions of your smile and send them to a trusted lab, where technicians will begin to fabricate your artificial tooth coverings.

You’ll be fitted with temporary veneers in the meantime so that not only do your teeth remain protected, but you’ll also be able to view your new smile before it is set into place.

Once your finalized veneers arrive in our office, you will return to have your temporaries removed and each new veneer carefully placed.
